Portfolio / Scholarship Information

The Art and Design Department awards scholarships to incoming freshmen in a two step process; based on a portfolio review and attendance at the Art/Scholarship/Achievement Day (ASA) held in March. The initial awards are valued at up to $6000 over four years of study. Recipients of the Art and Design Portfolio Scholarship are invited back to campus for ASA in which students compete for a minimum of an additional $500 per year. Recipients are not required to major in art.

A portfolio may be presented any time before a student enters the college either in person or through slides or CD in the mail. If sending work in the mail, please include either a text file with the power point or a typed list detailing the media and size of the work. We ask for a portfolio of six-eight works and stress that we are most interested in seeing what the student feels is their best work regardless of medium. There is no requirement for certain media or subjects. Professional presentation that enhances the work is recommended.
